Shortly before 7:45 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 14, officials say that a deputy was traveling south on Route 152 (Fallston Road) in a marked patrol vehicle, when he came to a stop at the intersection at Oakmont Road.
While waiting at the light, officials said that the deputy was rear-ended by another driver and pushed into the vehicle in front of him.
No injuries were reported in the vehicle struck by the patrol vehicle, but the deputy was transported to the Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center for evaluation as a precaution.
According to a spokesperson from the sheriff's office, there were three people inside the vehicle that struck the deputy's cruiser, all of whom were transported by paramedics to the hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.
It is unclear what caused the driver to make contact with the deputy's vehicle. The incident remains under investigation.
No other information was released by investigators.
